Dave Hakkens
Designer and Inventor
With his work, product designer Dave Hakkens wants to focus public awareness on recycling and the environment. With “Precious Plastic”, his specially developed open-source project, he gives members of the public the opportunity to produce something completely new from plastic waste. This recycling machine can be manufactured with conventional tools and materials. The plan is available as a free download on his website. As early as 2013, Dave Hakkens gained broad media attention with the project “Phonebloks”. Here, too, the origin of the concept is the reduction of rubbish – thereby the reduction of electronic waste. The smart phone can be assembled by anybody, using a modular principle.
